Commissioning a Sculpture

Step One

To commission a bespoke sculpture, the process is quite straightforward

It starts with an initial consultation to discuss what you would like. Depending on where you live, we can either meet face to face or communicate by video link, phone or email.

Step Two

I come up with some initial images to get the ball rolling. Depending on the scale of the proposed sculpture, I will make a maquette (scale model) which gives an accurate representation of the final piece. This also enables me to make up a photo montage which helps you to envisage what the final piece will look like in situ.

Step Three

When we have agreed upon a design, I ask for a 20% deposit and will allocate you a slot in my waiting list.

For larger pieces (over 2m) there may be staged payments.

Step Four

Once I have started on the piece, I will send regular updates and photos of progress in the studio. Covid restrictions allowing, you will be welcome to arrange to visit to see progress.

When the piece is complete I will arrange delivery and installation if required. Final payment prior to delivery.

Leaping Man

Here is a short video about the design process and installation of the ‘Leaping Man’ sculpture commissioned to celebrate Gold Medal winning Olympian Greg Rutherford.

“Being familiar with Clare’s work, I had complete confidence in the outcome when I commissioned our ‘Bees’. Clare made metal fly and hum around our garden! I believe Clare can capture the energy and life of anything she chooses!”
